A STUDY ON STUDENTS’ DIFFICULTIES IN LEARNING VOCABULARY

The objectives of the research entitled “A Study on Students' Difficulties in Learning Vocabulary” were to find out kinds and factors students' difficulties learning vocabulary. subject this study was students first semester Stitek Bontang who took English class. This employed a qualitative design, implementing characteristics case study. For gaining data, researcher used interview questionnaire. All data analyzed descriptively. findings showed that still faced problems or vocabulary learning. Kinds by various. (1) almost all have pronouncing words, (2) how write spell, (3) different grammatical form word known as inflections one causes In addition, (4) found choosing appropriate meaning words (5) also confuse using based context. last, (6) when they expression idiomatic. There some caused written is from spoken English, nuber need learn exceedingly large, limitations sources information about complexity knowledge. Knowing involves much more than knowing its dictionary definition, lack understanding incorrect pronunciation often sound similarity between native language.
